The prostate is a small gland located below the bladder and in front of the rectum, responsible for producing seminal fluid that nourishes and transports sperm. Prostate cancer occurs when abnormal cells in the prostate gland begin to grow uncontrollably. Causes and Risk Factors Several factors may contribute to the development of prostate cancer, including: Age: The risk increases with age, especially after 50. Genetics: A family history of prostate cancer can raise the likelihood of developing the disease. Diet: A diet high in processed foods and red meat has been linked to an increased risk.
